How does UFC seasons work?

i am wondering how the whole ufc thing works like i see ufc 83 and ufc 43 or whatever but a bunch of different ufc# at the same time but i want to know exactly how this works or what is it?

  1. They are not seasons, they are events. They use the number system to distinguish the different events. The same reason Super Bowls have numbers. There are so many because there are a lot of fighters in the UFC and they all need to fight, some fight several times a year.


  2. There are no seasons its sor of like boxing.  Every month UFC has an event with different fights.  The first one was called UFC 1, the second one was called UFC 2, the third one was called UFC 3 and so on.  

    They are all pay per view events when the UFC started they only had like one show every 6 months and thats why they named them like that.  Now they fight once per month and it has become a tradition.  May was UFC 84, JUNE is UFC 85 then august is UFC 86.  

    There are no seasons they fight 12 months a year

  3. The first guy got it right but its not just 12 events a year there is actually more. Sometimes they have two or even three events a month.
