  1. I was on my high school's volleyball team and we did LOTS of training. It was very intense and kept us in good shape. Something I did in club volleyball was called Pliotechnics or Plios. This is if you're a little more serious about it, but you can use it for more sports besides vball so it's helpful. It mostly involved leg strengthening activities to get us to jump higher and increase your "explosive energy". It also involves footwork and agility (you have to be quick on your feet for volleyball). It's good to build up your quads, moreso than your arm strength. In terms of hitting, it's the technique that makes it work, even though strength adds to it.

Even though the court is only 30 ft long, you stay in shape by training for volleyball, which will, in turn, make you a better player.

    Good luck at tryouts!

  2. whoaa. thats not nearly all you do.. lol.

a good volleyball player is always moving during each play, communicating to her teammates. your always down low anrd ready, like squatting. youll have killer thighs.. hitting or spiking doesnt just use your hand. all your hand does is make contact with the ball. to actually get power behind it you have to use your abs and crunch down on the ball. so, if you have a good coach, youll be doing lots of excercises. since your always moving, youll be doing lots of sprints. always being low and ready, youll be doing lots of wall sits and squats. and for hitting, youll have to work your whole core. abs, chest, and arms. thats pretty much your whole body for ya. legs, core, arms, and cardio.

  3. omg, that is not all that volleyball is!!! It strengthens your legths greatly because everytime you pass the ball ,you should bend your knees to get under it and almost hit your butt to the floor. Try doing that 20 times and getting the ball where you want it to go!!!! Also, you are running around the court frequently. More un-advanced players tend to stand in one spot and just wait for the ball to come to them, but once they get better, you run around all the time and dive for the ball.

  4. All you do is hit a ball with either your hands? Haha no, you do much more than that trust me.

You actually work on every part of your body.

There is a lot of leg work, you are most likely to be constantly moving on the court. These short sprints provide fat burning.

The basic moves of volleyball work your core muscle groups as well.

And the best part is that you are focused on the game that you really don’t think about how hard your body is working... I think you can burn like 5 calories a minute on a court or something.

  5. u also have to jump and run. u work ur legs and ur core. it is more than u think it is.

  6. Volleyball is not just hitting the ball with your hands or arms!  You need to run a lot.  Many people who see, think, or hear about someone talking about volleyball think that its just a girly sport where you don't need any athletic ability to play it, but in reality, it isn't.  If your not in shape, I guarantee you that you'll be huffing and puffing by the third lap.  There is a lot of conditioning to improve your game like wall sits, suicides, karaokes, scissors...etc  When playing a game, the ball doesn't come exactly to you because the opponent is looking for open spots so you have to be on your toes.  One hesitation and it can cost you the game so in conclusion, it really does keep you active and we don't only hit the ball with our arms or hands.

  7. Duuude, volleyball is excellent for every part of your body. Just check out the games on tv and look at the players bodies. Long, lean, muscular. All the jumping and stretching you have to do being out on the court gets you that. Plus the practices will be h**l if you have a good, dedicated coach. You'll be doing excercises that will build your muscles and burn any excess fat. I have volleyball practices to thank for these thighs and behind.

  8. I guess you haven't played many competitive games, with all the jumping, and constant movement you will always be in shape playing VB both indoor and outdoor. No matter where you play MB, OH, S your always moving and being active. If your thinking about gym Volleyball then playing for a competitive HS team is totally different. Your gonna be in for a suprise.

    Good luck at try outs

  9. OKAY IM ASIAN SO LISTEN TO ME. im about 5 11 and i can dunk thats all i have to say. i can squat for a day thanks to volleyball and my serve helped me throw harder for baseball and my fingers are like daggers

  10. you have to dive for the ball and have fast reflexes. it makes your arms stronger. im a volleyball player too for my school and in 2 months i got heathier than i was b4  i joined.

  11. I play volleyball at my school....and I first want to say only play only if you want to!! Now to answer your question...every sport keeps you active espacially from practice...you get good leg and arm excerise...now basketball and soccer keep you in better shape but I play volleyball cause i like it!! I dont know if that answered your question but i hope it did!!

  12. every aerobic and cardio work out burns fat and increases metabolism. if you plan to try out at to join the team, expect at least 3 hours of daily training. you run, jump, do sprints, do strengthening exercises, etc... it helps tone your legs and butt, increases endurance and builds muscle.

  13. You also have to run, jump, and dive to get to the ball, and I imagine in practice you will be doing some exercises that increase your endurance as well as your skills.

  14. Thighs.

You NEVER stand up in volleyball. You ALWAYS squat. It kills after a while. Plus, you do tons of sprints. Lots of leg work. Arms, not so much. Stomach, definitely. Depending on your coach, you'll probably do some running and athletic sprints in practice too.

  15. You run in practice and you use muscles and dive for ball or if its going out, run you mostly develop leeg muscles from staying low.. if your a setter you use your arms...

    BTW, i play volleyball
