How does Western Union work?

Theres a phone I want to buy from someone on Facebook and he said to pay through Western Union. How does that work? How old do you have to be?

Unless you are sending money to someone you know NEVER use Western Union to pay for merchandise.  Most likely this person is running a scam and once you send the money you will never get the phone and never be able to get your money back.

The way to prove this is to tell him that you will only send a Postal Service Money Order to a Physical United States Address.  Send it a way that requires the person to sign for the package.  A legitimate seller won't mind.  If it is a scam you will never hear from them again(or they will do everything possible to still get you to send it by WU).  There is still no guarantee that it is not a scam, but this knocks out about 90% of the scams out there.
