  1. I am not sure about the other answer here. I know Canada has mutual agreements between: Australia, New Zealand, and UK (also with France if you are a resident of Quebec). My friends from NZ Auckland just arrived in Vancouver with no work visas, and no employment offers, nothing, and they found a job and started working right away. Check with Immigration Canada Web site:

  2. It's simple, really. You can only get a visa if you have a job offer. You're not permitted to just come to Canada to look for a job. It's a shame we weren't part of the EU because that would be a lot easier, wouldn't it?

  3. You are quite right that there is a bit of a paradox and such issues around immigration have made the news here in Canada in recent days.  It really depends on what your skills are and the type of job you want.  There are ways.  For example, you could consider one of the special provincial sponsorships if you don't mind which part of Canada you come to.  Someone already gave you the Canadian immigration link.  Really study it, especially the sections about provincial sponsorhips, and start the process.  It is possible to find an employer who will sponsor you, but you may have to be persistent, and consider jobs outside your training.  Or you may need to train in another area if you can.  There are many vacancies in Canada in the hospitality industry, which is a route some people use.  The caregiver program is another option if that would be of interest to you or practical for you.  Best of luck with your plans.  Immigration to Canada can be a long process.
