How does a UPS package handler do his job?

im thinking about gettinga job at this local UPS warehouse and they have positions open for package handlers. wut do they do? i heard that they just load trucks and unload them. where do they put the packages when they unload them? and is that ALL they do nothing else but loading and unloading?? id like the help. thanks

Some unload the big trucks, put on conveyer.  Various positions scanning, taking packages to different areas.  Most newbies start loading the local vans.  Lots of packages come down the conveyor belt, end up in a big pile on the floor.  They don't like that.  Mainly heavy lifting, sorting, jumping up and down into the van.  They say short hours but everyday for me was 7 hours, at least.  And you have to join the union.  A lot of guys call in, get in trouble but still working.  Then you have to pick up the slack.  Drivers always complaining about how everything is packed and getting you in trouble.  There's a tour before you accept a job.  You can always back out.  Worth it if you need the benefits.  Good luck to you..
