  1. Weightlifting and a high protein nutrition make you gain weight in a short time. But you have to be careful and train the right way. The movements of weightlifting are not the same as the movements while boxing. A wrong training could reduce the speed of your punches, because the new muscles are in the wrong position and so block your movement. (This really happened to a guy in my boxing club).

The most important thing is why you want to reach a higher weight division.  It's normally better to try to get the lower division, in order to box the lighter boxers. If you reach a higher division, you still can get a heavier opponent.

My personal experience is that you should not influence in which division you get. Just train and see what weight you will get. If you are close to a limit, better try to get into the lower division.

Please excuse any grammar error, because english is not my first language.

  2. by eating a certain way and by lifting in order to build mass.  It is possible to gain to much weight and it s possible to lose too much weight. there needs to be a balance in order to be healthy

  3. boxers can trim right down to reach a lower weight, and it's common for a boxer to put on 10 or 15 pounds in the 24 hour period between the weigh in and the fight (there are only between 3 and 7 pounds between weight divisions), so moving up 1 or 2 divisions is not much of a problem for the better fighters.

  4. Generally speaking, it is an automatic

disadvantage for a fighter to arbitrarilly move up in weight..Fighters trim down as weight-lifter build up.. We are most effective as the smallest, big-man.. Compact is what you become... quite like wrestlers in highschool and college..Once you move up to another weight-class, you automatically give away your strength advantage...

  5. Weight lifting to get bigger is healthy.
