the centre fin is current completely off my board and ive been surfing on it for a few weeks. I havent really noticed much difference, but how does not having it affect the boards performace?

is there reduced balance, stability, thrust etc.?

please let me know. im considering getting it fixed but its gonna cost be $77 for plug fix and new fin.. sigh.

  1. the center fin usually gives the board a little more hold on the face of a wave.  they do help give a little extra drive because you can pump against them (hence a three fin board being called a "thruster")  some people prefer a twin fin board because they can be a little looser.  its just a different riding style that depends more on using your rail for hold on the face rather than your fins.   i would say dont spend the money as long as the board is water tight since you havent seen a difference in the boards performance.  if it feels too loose (like your just sliding sideways while dropping in or not turning quite as crisply as you want to) or if its taking on water than get it fixed (no use in destroying the entire tail over a busted fin plug).

  2. less stability and stregnth when riding the wavw

  3. I broke my left fin once and it messed up my balance and speed. I don't know what happens with the centre fin.

  4. you will have less stability and balance.

dont worry until you start falling off

  5. It's possible that your lack of personal balance may be offset by your lack of a rudder.

  6. it keeps your board stable on the water. It helps and guides you.
