Question:

How does a business issue press credentials?

I am starting a small business which will involve publishing articles about cars. I went to the journalism resource section of Audi's page and found a press registration form. One of the items on the form is a check box giving the option to register as, "an accredited member of the news media". Following the check box is a text box which asks for, "Supporting information for media credentials". I have been unable to find any accrediting agency to apply to (I believe it doesn't exist). I found a similar question here:

however it doesn't provide the details I'm looking for.

My question is, how do I issue press credentials to staff writers of my new publication? I would like information on the expected format and content of supporting information expected when applying for status as an accredited member of the press. In other words what do I put in that box to get my writers the best resources available?

Thanks!

  1. My guess is that you're right. I'm thinking they just want to make sure no random loony calls them up to do an interview. There's no "official" accredidation, they just want to make sure you're a media source...though these days, any yahoo with a computer is a media source...-- a Detroit reporter/editor

    Are you in Detroit?

  2. Call the good folks at Audi and explain the situation. I would bet there wouldn't be a big problem, especially if you have an existing product to show them on line.
