  1. The ram gets marked and leave a mark on a ewe he has mated with.

Whether or not the ram was successful isn't immediately apparent. You would look for swollen teats etc. But actually quite hard to tell until she births.

Kate B.. ewes get scanned??? Heeeeeeeeee! think someone is pulling your leg..

  2. theres really no way to tell untill their almost ready to pop out. the earliest sign is their utter starts to grow, and then when their really about to have the lamb their private areas get all swollen..yeah..fun stuff you wanna kno right? lol. this all happens with in the month before they give birth i would say. they dont really balloon in size like other animals, unless their haveing triplets or something. btw most sheep have twins, s****. prepared for that.

  3. They get scanned....a man comes round the farm to scan the ewes...Yes, really Anna C. My brother-in-law owns a farm and I've seen it done.

  4. She wakes him up in the middle of the night to get her some dill pickles and butter pecan ice cream.

  5. The tup (ram) has a dye mark on it  called a raddle which is transferred to the ewe after mating. Most farmers these days get their ewes scanned a couple of months or so after mating. This tells them not only how many ewes are actually pregnant, but also which are expecting twins or triplets (or rarely more). This helps them to plan for lambing. For example if triplets are expected then it might be better to transfer one of the lambs to a mother only expecting a singleton.

  6. its those mood swings they have on a constant basis
