  1. I don't know what steps you would take initially, but I do know you will need some good letters of recommendation.

    Also consider getting a graduate degree and working a UN internship into your program.  Once you have a Master's, consider the UN's Junior Professional Officer (JPO) program:

  3. A good idea would be to look into their website un.org, go to jobs and look at the qualifications.  Having a degree in political science ,international relations or international studies is a plus. But almost in any case, you would be competing with guys with master's degrees.

    If you are good in languages, there are openings for translators and interpreters open, but still, you have to be an accredited one for that.

    They also require experience, so it's best to start applying as an international intern at other UN agencies, NGOs or their affiliates before heading onto the UNitself.
