How does a functionalist in sociology see disability and poverty?

  1. A functionalist would see both of those constructs as serving a purpose in society. These when applied to people make up positions in society and "function" as a part of social stability. If they were not poor, I would not be rich. Or if he were not disabled, I would not be able. they view society as having roles that each person fills and the result of these roles is a stable community in which each individual has a position. Hope this clarifies some =)
