  1. i love to cook, the only difference i can say is this, the response time on gas is faster then electric. ea; something boiling over turn down gas stop almost instantly, not electric it can take up to 15 seconds,by then you got a mess. they are both good, just takes a little getting use to the electric,i use both and really can't complain on either,i also use toaster oven and microwave w/convection oven. it;s just what you need at the time. some of these newer electric ranges can boil water in 15 seconds or less.

  2. 1. Gas is usually a cheaper fuel for cooking vs. electricity.

    2. Electric burners stay hot WAY longer than gas burners after they are turned off (burn hazard).

    3. Foods cook faster on electric stoves than gas stoves when on the same setting (like medium).  Be careful you don't burn things if you are used to a gas stove.

    4. You can use gas stoves during a power outage!  You have to light the eyes manually but it's saved my family from going hungry during several power outages!

    That's all I got!

  3. Not much except it uses gas .

  4. I have lived in 5 houses,  2 with electric,  and 3 with gas.  I love the gas.  It heats more evenly and quicker.  If I ever had the choice,  I would choose gas.

  5. You'll find that your pot's and pans will heat up quicker with gas.  The oven will work about the same, either way.  All in all, not a huge difference.

  6. in the gass stove things heat up faster than a electric one and in an electric u can burn eassy

  7. Basically the difference is in how the two heat things up. An electric stove uses electric current to heat up coils or a heating pad. A gas stove uses gas and a burner to light an open flame. Older electric stoves are said to heat things unevenly. While gas stoves cost a lot to operate (esp. with today's oil prices) and carry the risk of having an open flame.

They will cook food the same way. No need to do anything differently.

  8. no. you turn the k**b. it clicks and fire goes on. exactly the same thing. except you see the fire.

  9. My mother always had a second kitchen in the basement of our home (Pennsylvania - no basements here in Texas!).

She preferred the gas oven to the electric oven, but I think it was the burners on the top of the stove she preferred.  She made a lot of Italian dishes, since that's our ethnic background, and I believe that for simmering the sauce, it's easy to keep a nice low steady temperature on the gas burners.

Another advantage would be that in case of losing electricity, you can still cook, but some gas ovens require an electric outlet for the initial "spark," so that overrules the advantage of gas on that score.

You will find people who strongly prefer one or the other, just like some people feel about New York City or small town life.

  10. No, a gas stove works just like an electric stove. I have had both kinds of stoves but like Gas better. Electric just takes longer to heat up and the burner to cool down. With gas, this heats up faster and the burner cools down much much faster.

  11. If your looking to buy a new stove, check out those flat top electrics, the fact that you can get one is the one advantage electric has over gas.  To clean a flat top stove, you just wipe it with a cleanser. Much easier than dealing with messy reflector bowls.  I'm not talking about the induction ones where you need a special set of pots and pans, but a regular convection one.  Go to an appliance store and ask to see one, I think you'll be happy with it.
