  1. Golf is a game of opposites.

Hit down on the ball to make it go up. When you hit down on the ball the face of the club compresses the ball into the ground. The grooves on the clubface causes friction on the ball as it rises up the face of the club creating backspin on the ball which then launches it skyward. Golf clubs have different degrees of loft that dictates how high the ball will go if hit properly.

  2. Apart from the loft of the club, the golfswing itself allows the ball to fly because the follow through swing, which ends high, promotes flight!

  3. whenever you hit the ball the club has the set angle on it and as the ball makes contact with the ball..the friction makes it come off solid if you hit it right and so then the ball is hit into the ground and then the angle of the club just lifts it up

    HOPE THIS HELPS :)

  4. Ball striking and the result is all about physics.  Striking the ball with the clubface (and the grooves cut into the face) puts backspin on the ball, its foreward momentum combined with the backspin (and the help of the dimples on the ball) cause it to rise until the energy of the strike is used up and then gravity pulls it back down to earth.

  5. The clubs have a "loft" to them.  In other words, the face of the club is slanted to provide the lift.  In other cases, it depends on where the ball is placed when hitting it.  If it's further forward in your stance then the natural motion of the swing will cause the ball to rise, as you'll be hitting it when the head of the club is starting to come up.

  6. Everybody Else's answers about loft, friction with the club face, ball compression and swing are right on. There is just one thing I would like to add, when you hit the ball it puts backspin on the ball and the lower the club the more backspin is put on the ball; so a driver only puts a little and a wedge puts alot. The dimples on the golf balls give lift to the ball when it has backspin.

  7. hey why dont you find yourself. hit the same ball with a putter, with a 9 iron, a driver, and a cricket Bat. see yourself what happens and how it happens.

ok then put it this way, when an ammo is fired from a gun with different angle what happens. i know you dont have a gun but visualize. thanks.

  8. golf --when he hit down the ball goes up .when you try to pick the ball up with the club the ball goes nowhere .if you have a ball on the floor at the step on them back part of the ball the ball will come up in the air .just like when you had a cue ball and pool below center of all goes forward , has backwards been .a hit down on a golf ball on your swing in the ark of your swing I don't mean when you hit it straight down try to drive it up is on the swing coming down at an angle that makes the ball goals up

  9. The club has "loft", meaning that it is slightly pointed towards the sky.  Thus, when the ball bounces off the club face, instead of going straight along the ground it goes up.

  10. Don’t despair – everyone started out just like you.

Unfortunately if you’ve come late to the game you may feel your performance will embarrass you in front of your friends (or worse – your boss!). While golf is typically learned by adults you may feel ashamed to admit your lack of skill and prefer to avoid the game altogether. Don’t miss out on the fun and networking enjoyed by golfers…

Like any other game rules and skill, and other variables, will affect your performance. Have you ever seen cartoons about a frustrated golfer? Be prepared – golf is as much a mental game as a physical one. Secret tips to control your frustration can give you an immense advantage, even over experienced players who let it get the better of them.
