  2. A knife is an inclined plane designed to help channel your force and slice and dice through food, obj.s , etc... it is a simple machine

  3. a knife is commonly made out of a piece of steel (metal) that is rubbed against a wetstone/grinding stone (rock) to scrape away steel shavings making the number of molecules of steel across the edge smaller and smaller. So basically the edge of the knife will look like this: >  with fewer molecules at the tip. Because steel is a harder substance then say, a tomato, the steel will be able to push thru the tomato becuase there is not enough resistance. Hope this helps!
