  1. it works by creating a magnified virtual image of an object behind the lens (convex lens).It just allow light to pass through in strange path it controls refraction of light  to make your eye receive the light in different way so you see it larger  

    The distance between the lens and the object must be shorter than the focal length of the lens for this to occur otherwise the image appears smaller and inverted.
