I'm 17, married, and in the military. I know I have credit because I pay bills, but how do I go about getting a credit card?

And to all the annoying people who tortured that other poor girl that had the same question, you obviously do not know how hard life can be for some young people these days. Some of us need credit cards for understandable reasons, not just to get our hands on "free money".

Anyways, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  1. wait 12 months or have your parent put it in their name

idk how you got into the military at 17 theres no draft

  2. You don't get one........Applying for a credit card requires you to sign a contract and in the United States no one can legally sign a contract until the age of 18.

but thank you for your service

  3. Maybe your parents could co-sign for you to get one,or your husband could get one,& put you down to be an authorised user . They do have credit cards at Walmart, that you can load up with however much money you want to put on it. It is a real credit card, only it' a "prepaid one" The other way would be to get a secured credit card through a bank, where you put bown a deposit that they put into a savings account& you get the card & use it as normal. The deposit determines the credit limit. I'm pretty sure most of the major banks have them I know for sure that Citibank does. So the best thing to do would be to call up the banks & ask them about it. I hope this has helped.

  4. I'm sorry Hun but u hafta be 18. It is the law. You see more than mature enough to have one, but for a credit card, you have to be 18. There are no exceptions. I know how hard it is and how much u probably need one, but its the law. I worked for a bank in the finance department for 4 years. In sorry to tell uthat. U seem very responsible, but creditors dont care & u can't change the law.

P.s.-if u have any other questions about it, feel free to email me :)  and good luck with the army & everything
