  1. There are lubricated ball bearings inside the spinner, which allows it to turn freely, usually moreso when there is pressure or weight on it.

I had a plastic spinner in the past and got the gold metal one for Christmas.  They each have their pros and cons, but I don't think either can really make up for just on-ice practice.  Overall, the plastic one...... http://www.rainbosports.com/shop/site/pr...

....works better, but there are very limited surfaces you can use it on without damaging the floor or the spinner.  You can't use it on hardwood because it will scratch, cement because it will wear the rocker right off the spinner, tile because you'll slip and kill yourself, so pretty much the only floor I found that was okay to use it was the rubber floor at the rink.  The metal spinner......

.......is just really hard to use.  It's hard to find your center to get any rotations at all.  It spins REALLY fast, which I'm not sure if that's helpful to someone who is trying to learn to control their spins and perfect them.  You get maybe 2 or 3 rotations and then are usually sent hurling into nearby furniture.  I haven't found it to be very useful.  I liked the plastic one better, but after a lot of use, the rocker flattens out anyway and it's pretty much useless after that.  Uggg!  :)

  2. I bought my daughters one of those spinners. Their high level skaters and they did not like it.

To work the spinner you have to find your center or  you won't get the rotations on that contraption.  But its hard to get the hang of and you'll need to practice on it for hours to get the hang of it.

My kids never really gave it a good try and poo pooed it  within a couple of weeks because they kept falling off it. It's now collecting dust some where around the house. I know some of their skating friends had got them and they thought it was a waste. Your better off practicing on the ice.

So the object is to find your center on this thing so it will help with faster and longer spins on the ice.

In my opinion it's not worth buying, hopefully you could borrow someones if you want to try it. yourself.

  3. Don't use it, it's a waste of time.

Use your time spinning on the actual ice.

  4. it spins on a circle of small metal balls, in not sure how to explain it but all you do is stand on it and spin.
