How does a person acquire tax id numbers on a company they are wanting to hire?

also I would like to know if they have business license before we hire them Does any one have any ideas how to obtain this information before I hire someone that is not license.

Ask to see their business license.  Or ask them for their license number and then call the state bureau that handles this and verify that it is a real, active license for the prospective company.
