How does a person addicted to prescription pills get them?

I'm just curious. I have a family member who is an addict. I'm being told he's addicted to prescription pills. I know he does not have insurance and does not see a doctor, and he certainly doesn't hang around with any doctors - so, how would he get the pills for his addiction?

Some ways these people can get them are:

-Shared with them by friends or family

-Stolen from friends or family

-Bought "on the street"

-Stolen from a pharmacy

-Using a forged prescription

-Bought from illegal online pharmacies that don't require a prescription

These days MD's give scrips to anyone complaining of the write symptoms. Go on Web MD look up the symptoms and then go to the DR complaining of those symptoms and walk out with a script it's about that easy.
