Everything in my life has changed. I feel like I've lost ME, like I don't know who I am any more. It's a really strange feeling. I feel like I am a non-person. (I lost my job back in January that I had for 15 years.) I feel like I've lost my identity. Like I've lost what made me ME. What is this feeling? Am I going nuts? Will it go away? How do I feel like ME again?

  1. Crazy people typically think others are the problem, not themselves. You are having a stress reaction with an easy remedy of a short bout of therapy.

  2. In my opinion, what you are describing sounds to me like depression. Like falling into a deep dark hole, and not realising it until you start trying to claw your way out. You are not going crazy, you need to seek professional guidance to re-establish a relationship with yourself....get to know yourself again. Losing something as stable as a 15 year career is enough to put anyone off track for a while, so look at it as a crossroad in the path of your life, a chance to consider your options for future employment opportunities, and a chance to re-connect with yourself.

  3. It is normal for people to feel that way after they have lost a job, especially men who base much of their self-esteem and self-worth based on their careers. We incorporate our jobs into our egos. You have suffered a huge blow to your ego. I recommend reading Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth: Awakening To Your Life's Purpose," it may help you get back on track with everything.

If you want to feel like you again read this book and start doing the things you love to do. This could be the best thing that has ever happened to you. You have the chance to rediscover yourself and do some really amazing things with your life that maybe you didn't have the chance to do before.

Many people feel like they are having an identity crisis or mental breakdown, when in fact, they are just preparing themselves for the next stage in life and a newer, better self to emerge. The layers of your past our peeling away and giving birth to a newer, sharper, younger-feeling, new you. Is your job what really defines you? Or is there something deeper and more meaningful inside of you that is waiting to emerge that really defines who you are as a person in this world? It is up to you to decide.

You can't drive down the yellow brick road with your eyes in the rear-view mirror, you're bound to crash. Focus on the road ahead of you and live in the present moment. Say "yes" to your current circumstances and accept them as they are. Live a little and have fun. Try skydiving. Face your fears and conquer them head on. It's worth it.

  4. If you were going crazy you wouldnt have the intelligence to know its happening. You just need some good htereapy or counseling to get back on the right track

  5. Time to rebuild. we can make him faster, stronger...just kidding.

It happens. Parts of you can go missing all the time, life does not care if you accept it or not. Like a tree can lose all its limbs, or gets burnt up, is it still the same tree as before? no, but its a thing, its alive, so it will keep growing anyway, as the new thing that it is.

take alot of pieces away. leftover pieces still work together, so it goes on.

  6. you probably are just feeling guilty that you lost your job

  7. you might have lost your job but you are still YOU.....you werent your job so better find a better one

  8. you may just be going over a hurdle... crazy people don't generally know they are the crazy ones. Others think they are.
