  1. Joining a credible political party is a start. Filing nomination papers and creating a political committee to raise funds are your next steps. Get to as many civic meetings as you can to find out what the concerns of the residents are.

Then you will be well on your way to running a viable campaign.

  2. Either run in a political party primary or as an independent, which would always  be the case in non partisan elections , as in some cities. One would then gather the requisite number of signatures as required by law. One should get more than the minimum because the opposition usually scrutinizes them carefully with a view of disqualifying them for technical violations. If the signatures fall below the minimum the candidate is disqualified from running in the election. In case of a primary the winning candidates represents his party at the subsequent general election. Successful campaigns require a committee, money and publicity.

  3. Join a credible party to support the campaign for mayor.

  4. you have to get on the ballot. and that usually consists of gettin a certian number of signatures, ie ppl that support you, and im sure there are some other form u have to fill out, but its not that hard
