How does a person start a peace activist organization?

Question

I'm interested in startig a peace organization for country in dire need of everyday things but especially peace. Any ideas would be welcomed.

It starts with one person at a time. Get together a group of your friends and acquaintances. Each has a skill that will support the group and should include someone who has experience in Volunteering.  

A drop at a time and you will be on your way/ Good luck you have great intentions!

Join the biggest one in existence, the UN! Make the US relinquish some of its sovereignty to the UN and this world will be a better place! George wanted the G8 leaders to vote the US way instead of the UN way! Work for the UN and you will see more results!

Its best if you start at the University and have a Professor to sponsor you organization. You need 5 people to start a preparation committee and after that you start to sign up those who are interesting in your organization. Finally, you need to call for an election to elect the executive committee of the organization.

You cannot simply try to promote "peace".  

The violence that occurs in our world is a symptom of a much bigger problem.  If you really want peace, ask not how you can promote peace...........we have enough people trying to promote stuff..........and ask how you can solve the underlying cause.

You could relocate to some other nation, such as Canada for example.

You could look into what various existing peace activist organizations are doing, their history, to see if there is one you like & want to help.  Also review all the organizational details needed that you would have to duplicate in a new organization:

* funding

* non-profit status

* incorporated ... can you file under UN rather than under some individual nation?

* getting your name out so people join

* mechanism for deciding what to do, consensus of volunteers without letting trouble makers mess you up

* records organization

* reporting to government agencies that oversee such organizations

You could volunteer for the Peace Corps.

Before you start one, have a clear cut mission along with the mechanism to achieve that.  I think  too many people are to unrealistic in what they are looking to achieve and take on too much.

Listen to me Chery. You and I are one of a very few in the world that not only see the injustice that Israel deliver, but the way they cover up there terror and use the brainwashed non educated people in the world to fool into thinking palestinians are the war criminals. Hezballah will not fail to fight israel. When people ask me what I think about the israeli/palestinian conflict, I say it wont end until the day of judgement. This conflict is a way to see who gives up there beliefs and who fights for what is right. What your are trying to do is great and hopefully more people will listen and help. As a palestinian myself, my job is to educate about the truth, and someday if God allows me a son, he will help the liberation effort of palestine.
