How does a poet get read on Garrison Keilor's Writer's Almanac?

Does he find them or do they submit the poems to him?

  1. Great question.

    I don't know the specifics, but I'm sure there is a network of editors who "suggest" poets to be read, and of course poems from books that are recently published.

    Then again, they read such a variety.  It's hard to tell.

    Great program by the way.


  2. Either you or your publisher send him your book. If he reads the book and finds a poem he likes, he will read it.

    I've known a few poets who have had their poems read on his show, and it's always a surprise when the poem is read.
