ok how does a proxy server work? i just want to know the 411 on a proxy server. will it detect on a home network if used?

  1. A proxy server simply masks your IP address so you cant be pinpointed to a certain IP

    Your IP reveals a lot of info about you and a proxy server simply puts a "virtual IP" as your IP, masking it completely or makes it so your IP doesn't show at all.

    Will it show in history: On your computer yes, but you can delete your history, Go to Tools, then click Delete Browsing History, then click Delete all


  2. You are basically telling another computer to access a website for you, and send you what it sees.

    EXAMPLE

    You are sitting at home, watching TV, and you want to change the channel. But instead of going up to the TV and interacting with it to change the channel, you use your remote instead. You give the remote a command by pressing a button, and it tells the TV to change channels.

    By using a proxy, you never have to actually enter that website. You technically were never on it. Thus, it won't get your IP.
