Question:

How does a public college library make money?

I ask, because I was scheduled to open up the library alone at 9 until 1 PM, but I completely forgot I was scheduled to work that day and didn't show up at all. So, the library "opened" at 12 PM, when another person came in to work (his shift was from 12 PM to 5 PM).

And so I was wondering, how costly was my mistake for the library? How much did the library lose? And not too many people actually come into the library on Saturdays, only about 10-20 patrons...

  1. Libraries aren't like businesses that sell things.  They are supported by the college as a service for the students.  You should worry more about all the people you inconvenienced, and about being a dependable person.
