How does a purge work in a car?

  1. I don't know what you mean by a "purge".  The only thing I have ever heard of using that word is the purge valve for a nitrous oxide system on a car.  Is that what you mean?  The purge valve is meant to get rid of any air pockets in the lines before a race, it ensures a good even supply of nitrous.  The driver activates the purge and usually it sends a jet of the gas out the hood somewhere, the valve can be mounted anywhere.  When the nitrous gets all used up you have to refill the bottle. Is that what you meant?
