  1. They're not technically cells and do not reproduce.  They are made in the bone marrow.


  2. Red blood cells are made in the bone marrow from differentiated erythroblasts.  Red cells do not separate to form new red cells if that is what you were thinking.

    PS. They are cells but they are the only anucleate cells in the human body (their nuclei are removed before they leave the bone marrow normally).
