I requested prayer for my church and minister, got deleted for solicitation, and appealed.

Y!A said that the deletion was fair.

How is a prayer request "solicitation"?

Solicitation is defined as the following (NONE of which fits my request):

an entreaty addressed to someone of superior status; "a solicitation to the king for relief"

request for a sum of money; "an appeal to raise money for starving children"

the act of enticing a person to do something wrong (as an offer of s*x in return for money)

  1. Yahoo! Answers is for people to get answers to their questions, to learn things they do not know or to gather a variety of opinions. There is no gap in your knowledge and no challenge to your opinions when you make a prayer request, you are asking for something to be given to you. That's against the purpose of Y!A. Sorry if you don't like it, but that's why you got a violation.

  2. As an atheist with like 3 deleted accounts for things that 'weren't questions or answers' (but were mostly just vicious or troublesome) I have no sympathy for you. I don't report you for anything and that's all you're going to get from me.

  3. You're right, it doesn't make sense.

  4. its not a question thats the fact

it doesnt matter what they say on the reason, sometimes they come up with the oddest and stupidest reason

although solicitation is what they class that as, so thats what it is to yahoo

if its not a question and you dont make it a question im afraid yahoo deems it not fitting for a question and answers site

which is fair enough and does make logical sence

thems the rules, and we all have to abide by them

    Additional

besides if you requested a prayer on behalf of your church that is deemed as solicitation, for the church

solicitation is now known to be widely and  broader spectrum to mean trying to get customers or followers

and if its for your church maybe yahoo saw that as being what it was

  5. chatting apparently

  6. Somebody who didn't like it reported you, out of spite, I don't think they look them, they just delete them.
