Question:

How does a self employed domestic energy assessor find work?

Thousands of people in the uk have qualified issue energy performance certificates as part of the home information pack. the pack is required when selling a home. Why is there absolutely no work out there at the moment? I am an estate agent anyway, so getting work from my own company isnt a problem when i put a house on the open market, but what about the rest of the houses there are?? I know that thousands of DEA's are unemployed or are struggling to make ends meet. making contacts with HIP providers and solicitors isnt the issue. The housing market is cooling and that is another factor. So how do DEA's find work? The government wanted DEAS to spent thousands to qualify then they changed the date that HIPS came in. Are the government going to give DEA's their money back?

  1. Contact your local building inspectorate and ask them where to apply your talents.

  2. advertise yourself

  3. Approach your local Estate Agents with the aim of working in conjunction with them.

Personally I would make up a demonstration pack/advertising literature and approach each Estate Agent with a 'deal' perhaps give them 5% commission for each referral once you have collected payment from the person selling their home.

    Some useful links here.

  4. Apply at Asda they need shelf stacker's, may not be quite what you're looking for but it's work. Good luck & make sure those shelves are straight.

  5. find a siimlar niche that you did when doing energy assessing like  home inspection, selling energy saving devices door to door. and stuff
