How does a shy person meet friends?

Question

I just started college and I am an extremely shy person so i'm having trouble meeting new people. What can cure this horrible shyness? I want to meet new friends but I'm not sure how to put myself out there. Please be serious in answering this question, and thanks to those who do.

I have the same problem and i'm a senior in college. Get a job, seriously, that's where i meet most of my friends. Get a job where a lot of other college students work. I'm too shy to make friends in class, but when you have to work closely with someone it makes it a lot easier.

Being shy is shown as a weakness. You must make yourself seem strong without flaws. Get out, get around, and mingle. Time to look for what you enjoy the most (ie. golf, pool, the mall) anything to get you out of your house/apartment/dorm. Because staying at home is only going to add to your shy-ness. Be confident in who you are and try something new..maybe working out? Try to do one thing positive everyday, joining clubs, socializing in the cafeteria, and maybe just saying "Hi" to people passing by, this might help you get over the shy-ness.

then stop being shy, you need a healthy life socializing a bit of pride in yourself, remember dear  those who mind dint matter and those who matter don't mind so start doing things with your self your in college now time to be independent
