Question:

How does a store verify an exact receipt if items were paid in cash and customer didn't have a receipt?

Can someone just go into a store and ask for a record of payment, or receipt, stored "in the system" when an item was paid in cash? If so, how will they know the exact person who purchased the item, or if an identical item happened to be purchased the same day and the person claims that receipt, "in the system", to be theirs?

  1. No, there is no way to get a duplicate receipt if you paid cash and there is no personal info attached to the transaction.

Some stores can track credit card transactions but not every store can even do that.
