I realize it probably does, but how exactly?

I can see how gun control would help, but what about a good education?

  1. more kids are in school and not on the streets

more kids have their head in the books and not in violent movies/video games

  2. Instead of kids learning to fight in school and then learning to read in jail, a good school system can turn this around and teach kids to read in school and later avoid going to jail....and instead go to college.

  3. One can argue that if they are in school they can't be out commiting crimes-that's not necessarily so though as you can sell drugs, assault peers, shoot peers/teachers, etc. while being in school.

One can also argue that once one graduates with a solid education-and I'll assume your just referring to a high school diploma here-they should be able to go get a job.  But there are many who have college degrees without jobs.  If they have no jobs they eventually turn to either legal channels or illegal ones.

There are also many uneducated people who do not commit crimes and many educated people that do (many white collar crimes are commited by college educated people).

Basically, an education provides opportunities, but it is always up to the individual to use it productively-or at all.  As  a society though we will always need lesser educated people-trashmen, construction workers, those who work for lawn services, etc.  This does not mean these are stupid people, they just don't have an education from Harvard or some other university.

  4. Definitely. The vast majority of crimes are committed by people who have no prospect of obtaining gainful employment and the single best way to prevent that is to have a good education. If you can afford to house, clothe, and feed your family, why would you steal?

  5. Education doesn't exist in a vacuum, it's part of a social structure. We can't educate our way out we have to fix the whole social structure. A new report hints that a large percentage of America is now living at the third world level

    “The Measure of America,”

  6. A good education gives individuals tools to use in life. Just the experience of going through school, puts one through tough and trying situations. Learning from these situations develops the ability to deal with lifes changes and how to deal with problems in a formal and professional manner. Not just by street rules. It develops coping skills. It develops charachter. It gives options where none originally exited. It develops interpersonal communication skills an extremely important ability lost to those who pus out early. It gives a feeling of accomplishment and a determination to succeed when one makes it through.

A good education gives one the ability to choose wether or not to deploy the use of a firearm, or use communication, professionalism, tact, morals, and ethics. Education is the best form of gun control there is.

  7. I don't think it is about a strong education system but an adaptable form of exercise. Education is an excellent diversion whilst repairing a possibly damaged ego and cv.
