  1. Surface roughness is generally specified in microinch and does not relate to a length unless the specified surface finish is specified over a certain distance.


  2. You have left out the dimensions - which may be understood in a given application, but vary by field of study.  As you can see in the links given at the link below surface roughness can be nm, microinches, or a proportion in soil.
