  3. Lots of vessels and types of vessels in a refinery ..One typical is a scrubber...there is a stainless mesh of wire in the top as the wet nt gas flows over the stainless wire the hydrocarbons (lights) condense on the wire then fall to the bottom after getting enough in there a float switch opens a dump valve and the lights are expelled and the process starts over again...Another example is a heater tower the name pretty well sells the story about this one however what you don't know is that its the preheat er for the transmission of the fluid..remember Boyle's law and how the volume is change by the temperature ..it also is easier to pump if its a specific density...another type is a vertical cracker (not saltine) the fluids are pumped into these monsters under high temp and pressure as they rise through the Heath of the tower the different chemicals condense at different levels and are collected by plates or pans the very lightest are at the top ..some of these are 200 feet tall or better and can weight as much as 150tons ..and have a working pressure of 200-300psi....that's about 10-15 atmospheres....well there ya go ...what we really need is about 200 more of these in Texas right now.....From the E
