Would you make all your money from advertisements? If so how much do people usually pay to advertise?

You are talking about someone who has a website... They can make money off of the ads on their page... What happens is there is an extreme volume of traffic and the advertisers pays the website owner each time someone clicks on an ad on their page. The website owner also gets paid when someone clicks on the ad and makes a purchase.

The amount of payment is either set or negotiated.

The advertiser can pay the website owner per click ranging from .01 to $5 or more if they want (pay per click - advertiser pays the website owner each time a visitor clicks on their ad)

or

the advertiser can choose to pay the website owner a percentage of the purchase price that was made from a visitor.
