    So, let's assume our yacht weights 64,000 lbs. For it to float all we need do is displace 1,000 cubic feet of water. A square yacht 20 feet x 20 feet need only be 2.5 feet deep, the rest will be above water.

    In truth, yacht design is more about cutting wind resistance and looking s**y then it is about displacing enough water to float.
