How does a yugioh card tournament work? ?

i emailed a guy whos running it with a bunch of questions about a month ago.....16 more days till tournament start....how is it like at a tournament, how is it held....itll be my first time going to one and competing...is there some type of registration?

from what i know when you go their might be a registration fee

each match consists of a best out of 3 format (first to 2 duels won wins the match)

then after you sign up you duel against people up until the last round or if you go by points you get higher points depending on the duelist that you are assigned to duel's skill level.

you must have a side deck of 15 cards which will be used to switch cards from your deck with cards from that one throughout the tournament

(DON'T HAVE TO SWITCH BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED SO BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR CHOICES)

then depending on your place you get a prize

well ive been going to tournaments  a long time but gave it up to start a new life but ill tell u this u will have to have your deck to be very strong because people in tournaments have one turn ko where they make u sommon monsters and once you sommun at least three they beat u in one turn and theres also a list of cards u cant use go to wannaduel.com to see the forbidden list but if you havent played yugioha lot beware of tournaments

It just depends on the tournament.

At a local tournament- You can usually show up with a prebuilt deck and a small entry fee and play.

At a regional or premiere tournament - It is exactly the same except you have to create a deck list ( so the judges know you are cheating, so you don't change cards ). Each match is 40 minutes at regionals.

you just play matches two out of three.

like a local or regional your probably going to a local so u go there and u pay a entry fee of $10 or something then u play rounds then you have a top 8 if u have a good record then if u win in top 8 top 4 then top 2 then 1st and whatever place u get u get a prize
