  1. Air from an air conditioner is run through an air filter, so as long as you use clean air filters you'll have good air quality

  2. You would have to approach the question like this->

    1. Air-conditioners need electricity to operate, and power plants generate CO2 (carbon dioxide) through the process of power generation.

→ This is a cause of global warming.

    2. Air-conditioners use fluorocarbons as refrigerants.

→Fluorocarbons affect the ozone layer and contribute to global warming.

Now air conditioners use a lot of electricity.  The CO2 generated from the creation of this electricity is one of the causes of global warming, a problem that many countries are trying to solve.

Air conditioners also need refrigerants to work.  Fluorocarbons, widely used as refrigerants, contribute to global warming and conventional fluorocarbons contribute to ozone layer depletion.

The AC unit itself contains useful metals such as iron and aluminum.  So it's critical that we consider how to dispose of air conditioning unit.

If you are using an AC at your house and want to continue using it you may consider these options:

. Make sure you have your unit checked and serviced properly to ensure it last for a long time.

.Reduce the amount use the AC by adjusting the thermostat by several degrees...it'll save you money and help with our environment.

.Maybe on weekends turn off your AC and open all the windows to ventilate you house. It’ll save money and reduce the amount of allergens your house may have.

.Dispose of your old AC unit properly and replace it with an Energy Star.

It's always best not to use an AC unit, but this is can be a drastic change in one's life.
