I just purchased a 1987 Sundancer Sea Ray, pulled it from the water for the winter. While running the engines, I noticed that one i/o exhausts through the prop, the other exhausts above the I/o..not sure if this is a problem or not..these are Merc Alpha engines V6's 205

  1. For the stern leg that is not exhausting through the prop, check the flexable exhaust coupling between the leg and the transom shield. You may find the coupling is possibly fractured or may have been removed. In some cases the couplings are removed to cut down on exhaust back pressure, but I would assume, if this was the case with your boat, both couplings would be gone.

  2. If the exhaust is coming out in front of the drive at the transom, then your exhaust bellows are split or gone. Not really a big deal, it just runs the exhaust thru the hub of the prop. You won't notice any running issues.

  3. Where does the "other" one exhaust from?

  4. on a i/o motor there are 2 differant exhaust set ups one is through the hull one is through the outdrive if one is through the hull you would definitly know because it is alot louder

its strange that you would have both
