Both parents have US Visas already. Do we call the Call Center and ask for an interview for a 1 month old baby? How does that work?

  1. Yes, and bring your camcorder, because it is the *cutest* thing when an infant makes application and goes through the interview!

  2. Unfortunately, it looks that way. what will happen is that you will have to bring ALL the documents as if you were the one being interviewed. **

  3. Was he born here?  If so, not necessary.  Call.  You'll have to anyway.

  4. www.uscis.gov is the website for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration services.  If you're just travelling here, go to www.travel.state.gov and in the search box at the top of the page, enter visas for infants.  It seems like no matter which way you're trying to get here, you'll need a passport even for your infant child.  It's likely that you'll need a visa for the child as well.  But if you're coming here to become a citizen, I can tell you that once you or your spouse become naturalized as  a citizen, you can apply for citizenship for your child right away.  It would be the N-600 application of citizenship for children of naturalized parents.

  5. The child does need a visa, and the application process is the same, except that most US embassies don't require that a child actually be present for the visa application process, unless it is a country with a high fraud rate.  If the child does not have to be there, a parent can bring the application and passport.  The call center will be able to tell you whether or not the baby must be there.
