  1. There are a variety of methods.  The first thing to do is find out what is available to you based on in which state your adoption finalized.  In some states, you can order your original birth certificate.  This will give you your first parents' names, town and hospital of birth, etc.

In which state did your adoption occur and how much info do you already have?  I located my first parents 6 years ago and it's been good.

Also, here's a link for information about different state laws.

  2. First - add your details to the registries here

    http://www.isrr.net/

    http://registry.adoption.com/

Check for information on your state records here (if you're in the USA)-

Check here for search help - and links to search angels -

And check here for any support - it's the best online forum for adoptees I've found -

If you wish to add more details about the state you were born/adopted from - others may be able to add more details.

Also - find out the adoption agency you were adopted through - that's always a good start.

All the very best with your search.
