How does an ipod work exactly?

Bear with me, I'm old and not very with it. I want to get an ipod though. How do I get the music that I want on the ipod? Do I have to pay for it online? Are there only certain sites I can go to? Can I transfer music from my CD's onto my ipod somehow?

There are many ways to get music on your Ipod. The easiest and fastest way is through the Itunes program. The Itunes program has the Itunes store built into it where you can download each track for $.99 each or the whole album. You can also get music transfering music from your cds. You can buy songs from other sites as well. You can use programs like limewire and bittorent programs to find new music to download. Amazon also sells songs you can download. Most of these music will be in mp3 format so if you want it on your ipod the itunes programs will convert it to AAC which is the file type the ipod uses.

And make sure u have the correct system requirements to run iTunes on ur computer.
