  1. Define "bad" weather.  Some people don't consider any weather "bad."  Everyone else has different opinions about what they consider "bad."  Your question cannot be answered until this is defined.

  2. It depends what you define as "bad weather". If you enjoy sunshine and live in England you are more than likely to always be complaining about the weather. But if you like rainy days like myself you find that your happy with most weather conditions.

  3. It affects me - I instantly feel happier when the sun is shining - even if the temperature isnt that warm, and if I wake up and see rain I get annoyed.

Rain means your hair gets frizzy and you have to carry coat, umbrella as well as your bag. When it is summer you can wear a skirt and t shirt, and feel less restricted. People seem to be friendlier in the sunshine. Also the sun reminds people about holiday times and memories they may have experienced.

  4. There is a thing called seasonal affective disorder (SAD) which many people suffer from. Basically they tend to get depressed at certain times of the year (usually winter). The main treatment for it is having a light box (a strong light) to sit under for a few hours or whatever a day and its supposed to help.

  5. I love when it rains and I'm safe indoors looking out my window, then love the fresh scent it leaves after.  But my fave (prob like most others) is the sunshine about a hour before it sets, really orange and warm so peaceful.  Sometimes wish it would stay that exact way for hours!  Geez I miss summer lol

  6. IN windy weather children behave badly

IN depressing weather, dark, cold , constricting, we feel the same. Where it is bright and clear, it is warm and soft, therefore liberating, we feel liberated and go out, get sunny.

SOme people 'hate' the sunny weather because of other pople enjoying themselves when they cannot because of their health or compromised lives, but that is because they know they should enjoy it.

If it is too hot to get things done then it can be uncomfortable and inconvenient and people can get bad tempered again.

  7. hi,the darker the wheather, the worse people are.bad tempered and fed up.when its sunny they just drive faster but are in better moods.dont ask me why.rubber duck.

  8. It is a scientific fact that exposure to sun causes your body to produce vitamin D which does have an effect on your mood.  A deficiency of it will result in general depression.

However, over exposure does not result in ultra happiness.  It is more so that the lack of it has an effect.  I happen to live in a super sunny desert and I get in a really good mood when it is overcast and rainy, which is like, 10 days out of the year.  I LOVE the rain!!!!

  9. I HATED THE COLD WET WINTER AS I GET VERY DEPRESSED BUT LAST WINTER I BOUGHT A LIGHT BOX I USED IT EVERY MORNING FOR ONE HOUR WHILE I READ A BOOK AND I  FELT A LOT BETTER.I AM NOW LOOKING FORWARDS TO GETTING OUT INTO THE GARDEN AND GETTING SOME WORK DONE.

  10. In alsorts of ways but it don't last for long we just find something else to take our minds off of it. be grateful some of us don't live in disarters zones which get hit by mother nature frequently. thats why we support charitys around the world to help the less fortunate than ourselves. and the above is right trying to make buildings stonger to with stand mother natures forces has been happening for a long time. better stuctures do save lifes.

  11. There is an an opinion (backed by some research) that large amounts of Positive ions (as with low pressure systems and rainly weather) can actually cause depression, stress, fatigue, etc.

  12. what we all take for granted and tend to forget in our daily lives is that SUN is the source of all life, the one giant lamp that keeps us all alive...

it is the sun and its rays that cheer us up and put us in a better mood.

look at trees / plants - when it is spring and the sun's strength increases everday, they tend to go a bit mad and overdo things - grow too many leaves all at once, one day it is all brown and dry and in a week a thousand new buds have sprung !!

we all tend to react to the sun's exposure. we as humans too are affected just like the plants.

the heat, the light, the clarity lifts our spirits as it gives us the feeling of warmth, brightness and clarity.

whereas on a rainy day our moods seem to reflect the skies - murky, unclear, unsettled.

sun being the brightest source of light, illuminates every corner and it gives us the illusion of everything being 'clear' and pure.

various researches have proven that people living in alaska / certain very northern parts of russia experience gloominess and depression, whereas people in areas like mediteranean sea / india seem to be 'happier'

Thanks to the Sun ! :-)

  13. I'm not sure that bad weather has much to do with my general mood.  However, my idea of a place or location is very much based upon the weather on the very first day of my visit.

If I took a trip to say the City of Bath and it rained, I might not then later have very fond memories of Bath.  Whereas if the sun shined and the sky was blue, my memories of Bath would be so much better.

Okay, so this has not answered your question.

I can only talk for myself.  Rain or shine, my mood is pretty much the same and I never bow my head in the rain.  It's as natural as the sunshine, so why not enjoy it?

  14. Sure bad weather can make you feel closed in or stifled, and this is how it affects most people...

But it is never less a state of mind, from only that one person's point of view...

For if we took that same person ...who was in real crappy weather for lets say a week...and then told them that they WON...THE LOTTO... you would be surprised, how the weather really did not mean that much anymore...

The same goes with self-depression, if you just mope around just constantly thinking the negative, then the negative will surely increase and make you listless and drain your energy...

  15. heavy (stratus) cloud obscures the sun and that makes us less joyful, also colder. The heavy cloud prevents upper air movement and so we are held under a blanket of 'same air'. 'I cnt gt my breath.' Heavy cloud creates pressure and 'my joints ache'.

    Let's have some sunshine.

    Hope this helps.

  16. rain makes me really happy! add in hail, thunder and lightning and i'm practically hyper! i cant wait to run outside!

the sun however makes me really frustrated because of the heat. i feel like staying inside doing nothing.

so in fact, sunny weather is my "bad weather"

  17. It affects me when it rains or constantly damp weather. My joints hurt, crack and complain. The ensuing pain affects my mood. I retire into myself; don't want to be a burden on any one. Truth be told I hurt and just want to be left alone!

  18. Seasonal affective disorder (SAD), also known as winter depression, or seasonal mood disorder. Most SAD sufferers experience normal mental health throughout most of the year, but experience depressive symptoms in the winter. As stated by the U.S. National Library of Medicine: "Some people experience a serious mood change when the seasons change. They may sleep too much, have little energy, and crave sweets and starchy foods. They may also feel depressed. Though symptoms can be severe, they usually clear up." When the depressive symptoms occur in summer rather than winter, the condition is often referred to as reverse seasonal affective disorder (RSAD) and may include some feelings of anxiety.

  19. This is actually called S.A.D(seasonal affected dissorder) It means that some people are sad/depressed when it rains and when its cold like in winter, happy when it is sunny like in summer and angry in thunderstorms. There are a lot of cases in the medical world of this dissorder. Quite a lot of people haveit.

  20. Parrots do not have vocal cords. Instead, they learn to control the movement of the muscles in the throat to direct the airflow in such a way as to reproduce certain tones and sounds—sometimes even human sounds. They don't have the intelligence.Talking to a parrot is basically like talking to a tape player or a Furby doll. The fact is, even though some birds can be "trained" to do certain things, they cannot reason or have real, human-like conversations.

  21. i assume by bad weather you mean endless gray days. because normal rainy days are ok. we need water.

the dark winter days, the gray days...they all seem to influence a small bit of our brain. the result is SAD...or seasonal affective disorder.

Neurotransmitters in the brain, pineal gland, pituitary among several other bits of the brain are photosensitive.

  22. When the sun is shining and particually if were in the sun serotonin is released into our brains - chemicals which make us feel happy.

The say that people who work nights feel literally less happy as they get less light to their system.

Therefore if the weather is bad we release less serotonin - which makes are mood less happy.

    see article :)

  23. it is a question of mind set and lighting which in turn affects the  balance of emotions in the body.

for example a bright sunny day will give lots of sunlight to the skin which in turn affects the body chemically.

as the body and so the brain is affected it reacts. Light is very important in mood changes and visual affects on the brain even without chemicals changes to the body.

In long dark cold and wet times it's easy to feel depressed and tired. In sunny bright time sites easy to feel energetic and happy. The brain is exceptionally aware of light changes which affect it. Look at the  soft  warm lighting in pubs etc so you feel relaxed and cosy. Bright lamps for some displays can affect the persons response and buying or not.

colour is also a key factor, look at orange drinks, most have an added colouring to look much brighter and orangier than is normal we buy that one as it appeals to our brain. It is not the best buy but we like the warmth of its colouring and so buy it, vegtables also are shown under certain lighting conditions  ,tv's etc and so on . Advertisors are aware of the affect of  light and clour (warth, cool etc) on the brain and  its turn on affect on your moods. so teh weather has clour and warmth or colness and so affects our moods by it's affects on the brain  and how hot or cold we feel bodily etc such as dry, wet, chilled and so on.

A bedroom clour affects the sleeping pattern. purple ceileing are known as suicide colours and so on. would you feel happy sleeping in a room with a black ceiling?  Light has colours depending on its warmth. ask any photograper. take a picture at dusk and another at dawn of teh same scenr and compare the lighting. one cool one warm. each affects us mentally and we cant help it.

  24. If the weather is dull, grey, wet and cold then, like most normal people my mood tends to take a dip.To throw your curtains open in the morning and see the sunlight streaming through the windows is indeed one of life's true pleasures.

  25. I don't like a lot of snow and cold.  It depresses me to no end.  I dislike being inside all of the time when it is like that.  I am glad I have a dog to walk even when it is bitter cold and snowy out or I wouldn't go out at all.  kh

  26. Everyone is affected in a different way. It effects my mood a lot.. I like all weather, when its grey and cold and rainy i can stay indoors and watch dvds and read, it reminds me of christmas :) and harry potter for some reason!

I love watching thunder storms, i just get really excited, i dunno why

Sunshine makes me feel happy because it reminds me of sunbathing on the beach and relaxing, and the sounds outside in the summer - birds singin, the sea, kids playin etc

I love snow the most though, because its just so beautiful and calming seeing it early in the morning when nobody has walked through it yet, but its so sad when it all evaporates

  27. I lived in Canada for 7 years and I hated the long dark cold Winters. I found I cried more easily and would feel frustrated and depressed. I didn't have any oomph!

I also lived in Israel for the best part of 25 years and despite all the strife and trouble I went through out there I never got that low low feeling I used to get in Canada. I visited my daughter over Xmas for a month who lived in Canada and I can tell you with all its luxury and size, because of the weather and prolonged snow storms and unbearable temps, I would never find it in me to live there again.

I am now in the UK... wet grey and wet a bit more... but the sun shines quite a lot where I live, thats why they call it Sunny Southsea, and I can just about manage. But I live near the sea and hope to charge my batteries once the warmer weather gets here.... please hurry warm weather I am at my lowest ebb... The weather affects me greatly, sorry to say.

  28. VERY badly. With me anyway.. I hate the rain it ruins my day because I don't like getting wet! :(

It's nice when it's a nice warm day and you can just walk around without having to worry about anything and it's all bright and sunny :D

  29. basically, sunlight on your skin produces vitamin d and i also believe seatonin is released (feel good hormone) which would, in simple terms, explain why we feel good when its sunny and bad when its dull and wet :D

  30. Relatively, as we live in a very DRY n' HOT place which i mean Kuwait...  Its like a festival when we have rain or even cloudy weather .. Actually some thought that god is satisfying on them cheering them with rain. and that's explain

recent studies shows less traffic accidents in Winter than (summer while you drive under over 55 degree C') .

I guess the hot weather is the reason making people mostly hard and aggressive.,

    more friendly in Winter.

    cheers

  31. Being a Leo I love the sun. I hate the wet and cold as it affects my arthritis. I loathe the wind having been raised on a bleak piece of real estate in Dorset, where the wind was horrendous in the winter. If the weather is not to my liking and I have to walk the dogs or go to the shops I can get grumpy. If I am warmly settled with the fire blazing and the weather is rotten, I'm fine. I am at my happiest walking in the sunshine.
