How does being a good neighbor relate to being a good citizen? Is it possible to obey all the laws but still not be a responsible citizen? Is it possible to break the law but still be a good citizen?

  1. Closest thing I can come up with is the good samaritan laws, that protect you if you accidentally injure/kill someone while trying to help them.

Remember, during the civil rights movements, there were many protests that went above and beyond their permits. They were breaking the law, but being great citizens. I think the same can be said of Union protestors that get arrested, or other demonstrations. They are all being good citizens by fiercely defending what they believe. At the same time, they are breaking the laws of that time.

Another good example might be the Boston Tea Party - definitely broke the law, but most people would argue that it was good for the nation.

  2. Definitely possible to break the law and be a good citizen. Some laws are stupid.  Now I'm probably on some watchlist.
