I'm a bit concerned about my brother who's fifteen. He has been spoiled since the day he was born. He's the only child in the houshold right now and has been for the past seven years. He gets whatever he wants and asks for. He doesn't do much of anything for chores. My mom makes him clean his own bathroom once a week and thats it. He's very disrespectful towards my mom and she tolerates it. He is also an extremly picky eater. I was wondering how this is going to effect him as an adult? When a child is spoiled what kind of adult do they turn out to be?

  1. My girlfriend was extremely spoiled growing up.  She's 30 now, and is no different.  Adulthood, responsibility, and maturity will be longggg delayed until he is completely dependent on only himself...and mom needs to set a boundary and say 'no'.

  2. Your brother will rely on other people more than himself. He might not be as successful in life as others. It will take him time to realize what reality is

  3. likeliness of becoming selfish. like me...

  4. I must admit, I spoiled my daughter. I gave her everything and I went without. I praised her if she crooked her little finger. I wanted her to have self esteem and I wanted all her friends to envy her. She admits that she was spoiled. Today, she's an alcoholic and drug addict and can't hold a job. My heart is broken. End of story!  Do you see what happens?

well, i turned out to be a very poor one, but it feels wrong to blame my parents for my shortcomings, even if i wish they had demanded more from me while they raised me.

    EVEN SO.

if you're writing this question, you may have already voiced your concerns to your mother, and it certainly wouldn't hurt to repeat them.
