How does bidding on ebay work, when 2 bidders are bidding automatically? who wins in that case?

How about say 5 bidders are bidding automatically?

Person would bids the most or 1st person to bid that amount

ex.

i bid 5.00 at 8.01

you bid 5.00 at 8.02

The automatic bidding(proxy bidding) system works like this-

three people bidding

starts at $4.50

person 1. proxy bid $15.00  winning with price $4.50

person 2. proxy bid $10.00  price is now $10.01 and person 1 is still winning.

person 3. proxy bid $14.00 price is now $14.01 and person 1 is the winner, the system keeps bidding until the auction ends and the person with the highest proxy bid wins...
