How does blood typing work and why is it important?

i'm not sure how it works but i know its important because it someone was in a bad accident and they needed a blood transfusion they need to know what blood type they are so they can get the same type blood to put back into there body as if your blood type is  one and they tried to put a different blood type into you you body would reject it as a foreign body and hence it would not work and the person would properly die.

you take a smaple of blood and introduce various antibodiess into the three samples.. the antibodies code for type A and B blood.. if B clots you are type A, and vice versa, if both clot you are AB if neither do you're O

they also test for Rh (rhesus) factor and it' noted by a positive or negative A+/A-, B+/B- etc
