Like when it comes to a 1-on-1 street fight a martial artist or boxer WOULD talk their way out of fight but are never scared to throw 'hands'. How does it build up confidence?

  1. For me personally. Since I began training at 17(22 now), I have fear of no man. Bigger, smaller. I am not afraid anymore because of my trainings.

When you been training for years hard 4 - 5 times a week. Getting good technique. Sparring. Being well rounded. Countless hours of mat and ring work with tough guys that know what they are doing. You realize there is no regular joe from the streets that can beat you up worse then your training partners, regardless of size, crazyness and 'scary' tattoo's.

Then again. Some people are insane. Some guys out there that will start trouble with you..you beat them up..then they are going to come after you with a gun or weapon to kill you or seriously injure you. You got to watch who you fight these days. Some people can't take a fair beating like our parents used to talk about in the 'good' old days.

So me, I am not scared of any man. Then again, I don't look for trouble, and if I have to fight someone, I make sure they aren't a stupid psycho path that have nothing to lose. I leave all my agression in the ring and on the mats.

  2. It is pretty simple really.  If you know that you can handle what is coming, then you are cool and confident.  This is usually very noticeable to the other side, therefore  putting more weight behind your words, allowing you to diffuse a situation with calming words, but also the threat of controlled and brutal violence.

  3. Because "knowledge is power" and having a great list of techniques ( practiced religiously )  to choose from means that your "confidence" is automatically boosted.  Knowing that you've been studying for X amount of time compared to the every day citizen out there.  Whether they spend their time trying to convince you with their words how bad they are or not your "confidence" is majorly boosted because you know what you know.  Not to mention the pride you'll take in your own training accomplishments which also boosts "confidence".  Win or lose in a "street fight" as you've mentioned here you've still fought to protect your self.  You didn't just lay down and let someone, trained or not,  run over you.  This is also a "confidence builder".  Having "confidence" in your own abilities whether on the streets or meeting a deadline for work you'll mostly give credit to your art for 9 times out of 10 "knowledge is power" and where is there a greater knowledge found than in your own learned abilities? which is nothing more than knowledge that leads to more knowledge right?  "Confidence" in what you are, what you're about, what you think and what you practice in life and you'll always practice in life, trust me, all adults do.  Whether you practice at an art form, a way of thinking, your own attitude, what you truely want to be in life, you'll always practice on those things whether you're honest about it or not.  "Confidence" = "No longer being afraid" for some while it is = to "Simple knowledge" for others.  This all depends on your own knowledge and understanding of what I'm talking about though.

  4. it depends on the person..go with boxing you learn from real experience from being in the ring..
