How does bra size work?

Question

There is a letter and a number.

But I don't know the difference between lets say a 34A and and a 32B

Is 34A and 36A the same?

And what is 34A consider flat chested?

The number is the circumference of your ribcage just below your b*****s +4 if it's an even number or +5 if it's odd.

The letter is the circumference taken around your b*****s at the widest point, then subtracting the first number from it. A 1" difference is an A cup, 2" B, etc.

To the poster below me, B or C is closer to average. From smallest to biggest, it goes AAA, AA, A, B, C, D, DD, DDD, E, EE, F, FF, etc. Like the alphabet.

the number is the size around your chest, under your b*****s. the letter is the size of the cup. AAA = small. AA = not too small. A = average. BB, whatever, ect. is i guess- just the more the letter, the flatter you are. the smalller the number, the flatter you are

The number is the "band size" or "back size" and refers to the size of your ribcage. The letter is the "cup size" and refers to the size of your b*****s. As you grow, you will need to increase your cup size, but your band size may stay the same for many years unless you put on weight around your ribs. Cup sizes are in proportion to the band size, so an A cup on a 34 band is smaller than an A cup on a 36 band - one size smaller to be precise. A 36A is equivalent to a 34B. You might think of a D cup as being very big, but a 32D is much smaller than a 38D.

The standard measuring system that you often hear about, which requires you to add 4 or 5 inches to your under-bust measurement, does not work at all. It would put me at 34B or 34C, whereas I actually wear a 30F or 30FF. It is not uncommon to go for a bra fitting wearing a 36B and come out in a 32DD. That's a drop of 2 band sizes and an increase of 1 cup size.

The best way to estimate your bra size from your measurements is to take your under-bust/ribcage measurement, and round it to the nearest even number. This should be your band size. It's a bit more difficult to accurately calculate your cup size from your measurements. The best way to find out is to try some bras on. For example if you are wearing a 34A at the moment, and your under-bust measurement is 30 inches, then you'll probably need a 30C. You need to go up by one cup size for every band size you go down, because the cups are sized relative to the band.

You might be surprised by the size you get - 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra, and most people are wearing a band at least one size too big. If everyone wore correctly fitting bras, the average adult woman would be in a 34DD. Obviously the average for girls who are still growing will be smaller.

You will be able to tell if you have the right band size when you can only just fasten it, but it is still comfortable. If you are able to comfortably fasten it on the tightest adjustment, it's too big.

The number is the measurement around your chest under your b*****s, plus 4 or 5 depending if its an even or odd number.  That is the band size.

The letter is the difference of that number and the measurement around your b*****s at the widest part of your breast.  

34A and 36A have the same cup size, but different chest size.

34A and 34B have same chest size but different cup size.

34A and 32B surprisingly enough have the same VOLUME for the cup, but a different chest size.

The letter (generally A-D but goes as high as G) is the bra's cup size. The bigger the actual size of your boob, the larger cup size you will need.

The number is the length of the material going around your back side. (generally 30-38 but again can be much hgiher or smaller)

34A would be for someone who has smaller b***s but is skinnier than a person who is a 36A. Your band size will ultimately stay near the same as you grow (unless you gain or lose weight) but as you get older your cup size will increase. I just made the transfer from 34A to 34B.

If you need to measure yourself, you can go to the panties section of a store like Macy's or JCPenney and ask to be measured. If you'd rather do it at home or do it yourself, there are always instructions on the back package of Target Bras.

There's no such thing as being flat chested. ;D Trust me the curves will come.

My bra size is 34D The letter is the size of your boob, like how big it is, the number is the length around your entire ribcage underneath your b***s. That may not be the place you are suppose to measure, yet that's how I measure for the most support. I beleive NA is the size they use for flat chested people, but in all honestly, anyone a B or below look flat chested to me. So I would ask your mom about that.

If you go to any store and ask an assistant in the bra and underwear department they will measure you and find the best bra for you, I get that done a lot and they are very helpful and understanding.

the letter is the cup size...(how big ur b***s are) and the number is (in inches i think) the distance around ur body just under ur b***s. 34A doesn't mean flat
