  1. I was on it for four months.  I was ovulating on my own, but didn't have high enough progesterone to sustain a pregnancy.  Clomid helps you ovulate AND gives you a higher progesterone level in the luteal phase.  The first 3 months, I ovulated 5 to 6 days later than normal, which in turn caused my cycles to be longer.  During the 4th month, I didn't ovulate.  My doc said some women become "immune" to it.  I switched to Femara and got pregnant during cycle number 1.

I like Femara better, because it doesn't dry out your cervical mucus as much; Clomid drys up your cervical mucus, which makes it harder for the sperm to swim up to the egg.

I know someone with PCOS, however, who got pregnant 1st cycle of Clomid with twins.

So...for some it works, some it doesn't.  If it doesn't work for you after a while, ask your doc about Femara.

    Good luck--baby dust!

  2. It is to help your egg follicles to mature and possibly ovulate.  I didn't have any luck with it after 6 cycles and getting to the highest dose given.  I did have 1 mature follicle finally but it never dropped.  The more mature follicles you can get the better the chances is what I was told
